Sexy Bookmarks is a handy plugin that will allow visitors to your website or blog to easily submit your content to the most popular social bookmarking site.
What It Does:
Sexy Bookmarks adds a a modern beautiful menu under or above your posts/pages. This menu allows people to simply click to add your article to social bookmarking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Digg, Stumbleupon etc…
Why:
For the most part, anyone who creates web content or has a website wants web traffic. One of the most effective traffic generation techniques is to submit your content to social bookmarking sites.
If your article goes viral on one of theses sites (i.e if it is “retweeted” or “dugg” by hundreds of people that could lead to a vast spike in traffic. Even if your content doesn’t go viral but a dozen people submit it to a dozen different social media sites, you will still see a nice traffic increase. An added bonus is that some of these sites will also give you a valuable backlink to your website…which is the key to search engine optimization.
There are a lot of plugins that offer the same functionality as Sexy Bookmarks (tweet this and shareaholic for example) but none of them are nearly as aesthetically pleasing. With the graphic call to action (you will know what I mean when you see it) I have seen my submissions from random web visitors rise significantly.
Compatibility:
I have had very few issues with Sexy Bookmarks. It worked with all of the themes I have used and the only plugin issue I had was that it didn’t seem to play nice with a video sidebar widget.
I also had an issue where it seemed to break my page layout but I just had to go into the plugin settings and change my URL shortener.
There have been some issues with load times, but the team at sexybookmarks is currently Beta testing a new version that will completely address those complaints.
Overall:
Overall i recommend this plugin for anyone who is interested in getting their content submitted to social media sites. It is far and away the best looking social media plugin and once the load time issue is full dealt with it will be perfect!
