WordPress for Beginner (Sinhala) Part 01 – Introduction
In this first part of our series on WordPress for beginners in Sinhala, we’ll be taking a look at what WordPress is, some of its key features, and why it’s such a popular platform for building websites.
WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that enables you to create a website or blog from scratch, or to improve an existing website. It’s estimated that WordPress powers between 25% and 30% of all websites on the internet, which is an impressive feat considering it’s just a single piece of software!
One of the reasons WordPress is so popular is that it’s free to use. That said, you will need to pay for hosting (where your website lives on the internet) and for a domain name (your website’s address). You can also choose to pay for premium themes and plugins (extensions that add extra features to your website), but this isn’t required.
Another reason WordPress is used by millions of people is that it’s relatively easy to use, even if you don’t have any technical skills. Once you’ve installed WordPress on your server and chosen a theme for your website, you can start creating content straight away. If you do need help with anything, there are plenty of resources available online, including tutorials, forums, and chat rooms.
So, what exactly is WordPress? In short, it’s a content management system that enables you to create a website or blog from scratch, or to improve an existing website. It’s free to use, relatively easy to use, and has a huge community of users who are always willing to help.
