What is Network Traffic?

Control Plane Traffic
Control plane traffic consists of the data used to manage and control the network. This includes routing information, signaling messages, and other system-level communications. Control plane traffic is typically high in volume and low in latency.

Management Plane Traffic
Management plane traffic consists of the data used to manage the network devices themselves. This includes configuration information, firmware updates, and other system-level communications. Management plane traffic is typically low in volume but high in latency.

Data Plane Traffic
Data plane traffic consists of the user-generated data that flows across the network. This includes file transfers, web browsing, email, and other applications. Data plane traffic is typically high in volume and low in latency.

User Plane Traffic
User plane traffic consists of the data used by end users to interact with the network. This includes voice calls, video conferences, gaming, and other real-time applications. User plane traffic is typically low in volume but high in latency.
