Pay Per Click Advertising:
Pay per click advertising is by far the most popular and effective form of paid website promotion on the web right now. Pay per click advertising is just what it sounds like, you advertise your site in search results and similar pages to your own and you pay each time someone clicks on a link to your site.
This works by selecting keywords or search terms that are closely related to your website and bidding against other website owners for the top spot in search results when someone performs a search for this keyword.
There are many tricks and tips to learn along the way, but here is a list of pointers to keep in mind.
- Bid on long search terms, these have less competition so its less money per click and customers who make long search terms are more likely to make a purchase. Ex. instead of the keyword “puppy training” you should choose multiple long search terms such as “how to house break a new puppy“
- Only bid on keywords and search terms that are closely related to your site. You are paying every time someone clicks on your link so make sure they will find what they are looking for.
- Use Google trends to get an idea of what your target readers are searching for.
- Don’t try to outbid everyone, just simply bid high enough to be on the first page of results.
- Sign up for Google Analytics so you can track your customers patterns from the time they enter your site to the time they leave. These patterns will show you what areas of your site need improvement. For example if a customer is only viewing your page for 15 seconds and clicking back, than you know your site is not grabbing the attention of the reader and you can make changes.
Article Marketing:
Article marketing is by far my favorite form of website promotion. This works to promote your site in more ways than one, and if you write the articles yourself it’s free. Even hiring a freelancer would only cost 10 or 15 dollars which is much cheaper than any other website advertising.
Article marketing is a very simple method of website promotion, but it is not as simple as writing an article and posting a link back to your site. Like everything else there is work involved to properly use article marketing.
You should have a main keyword that you are using for your site, use this and come up with three more longer keywords. If your website is not ranking for your keywords, than will your article rank for the same keyword? Of course not, yet I see people doing this all day long.
Research and use longer less competitive keywords for your articles to target, but you still need to target your main keyword as this will help your website to rank for the keyword after a few months.
That is all there is to it, target long keywords>write or purchase articles using these keywords> place a link to your site.
