SEO For Beginners: Search Engine Optimization Tips to Rank #1 on Google in 2020
Are you new to SEO and want to rank #1 on google in 2020? Here are some powerful SEO strategies that will boost your rankings!
#1: Focus on quality content
Google has made many algorithm updates including Hummingbird, and with Hummingbird, websites that just have content on everything under the sun won’t perform as well as sites which focus on one single niche and are very detailed.
You want to create in depth SEO content. Revisit and examine your content and improve it as time goes on, so visitors will think, “This site is all I need to learn more about XYZ”.
Consider leveraging video content to improve your SEO rankings in Google and other search engines as well (including YouTube).
#2: Optimize your title tag and your meta description (meta data)
When you perform Google searches you’ll notice a list of sites in the results, and the titles that are most relevant to the keyword search, and most eye-catching will often rank higher than those that aren’t. The description below the title is called the meta description. The description should draw the user/viewer in to click the title link in order to read more.
The example given in this video relates to ‘laptop mouse’, so now consider if you searched for a laptop mouse and didn’t see the keyword ‘Laptop Mouse’ in the title tag, or description, you are unlikely to click that result.
Further Google is unlikely to even rank that result on 1st page! Google tracks who’s clicking on what listing, and they’ve learned that when a keyword is in the listing, that same keyword that you’re searching for, they know you’re way more likely to click through.
So in your title tag and your meta description, make sure you include the keyword. But you can’t just add the keyword, “Buy Laptop Mouse”, right? I wish it were that easy to simply repeat the same keyword over and over, but it’s not that simple.
Yes you have to include the keyword in your title and your description, but it has to be appealing. If it doesn’t flow in a sentence, it’s not easy to read, and it’s not appealing or evoking curiosity, no one will click through, and Google will know that.
#3: Use Google Tools such as Search Console and Analytics
Did you know that Google gives you tools that teaches you how to rank number one on Google? One of the most effective is called Google Search Console. If you’re not already a user of it, sign up. It doesn’t cost anything. You’re missing out if you’re not using it.
When using Google Search Console…give it a few days because it takes some time to populate data. You’ll see a screen that shows Search Analytics and this shows you all the pages on your website that are getting you traffic. But the cool thing about Google Search Console is they also show you which articles are getting impressions so you know what’s working for your website.
When you try these SEO strategies your traffic can more than triple. Yes it is that simple. It may not happen over night, but keep watching and you’ll likely notice improvements over a 60 day span.
Now that you’ve learned these simple SEO tips, I challenge you to take these tactics and implement them, and then after you implement them, in the next 45 days I want you to leave a comment with your results because at Thought Media we really love seeing people do well in Google search!
