Tamil superstar Sivakarthikeyan’s much-awaited film ‘Rajini Murugan’ has finally released today (January 14, 2016). The movie which was scheduled to hit the screens on Pongal this year got postponed due to the Censor Board’s decision to give it a U/A certificate. Nevertheless, the movie has finally released and fans of Sivakarthikeyan can now watch their favourite actor back on the big screen.
Directed by Ponram, ‘Rajini Murugan’ features Sivakarthikeyan, Keerthy Suresh and Soori in lead roles. The movie has been jointly produced by N. Lingusamy’s Thirrupathi Brothers and Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films. Music maestro D. Imman has composed the songs and background score for this flick.
The story of ‘Rajini Murugan’ revolves around a carefree young man, who is fondly called Rajini Murugan (Sivakarthikeyan), who doesn’t want anything else in life except enjoying with his friends Karuppu Durai (Soori) and Thambi Durai (Bala Saravanan). However, things take a turn when he falls in love with the village headman’s daughter, Janaki (Keerthy Suresh). How Rajini Murugan convinces his father (Samuthirakani) and wins over Janaki forms the crux of the story.
Sivakarthikeyan as usual is brilliant in his role as Rajini Murugan. He brings out all the emotions of his character perfectly be it happiness, sorrow or anger. His comic timing is also excellent and there are several laugh-out-loud moments in the film thanks to him. Keerthy Suresh is lovely as Janaki and she looks gorgeous throughout the movie. Her chemistry with Sivakarthikeyan is also very good and they make for a very cute pair on-screen. Soori is another highlight of the film and he steals several scenes with his impeccable comic timing and one-liners.
The Supporting cast including Samuthirakani, Rajkiran, Vela Ramamoorthy and Thambi Ramaiah are also good in their respective roles. The direction by Ponram is very good and he has kept the proceedings light throughout the film without getting too serious at any point. The movie also has some beautiful visuals courtesy cinematographer Balaji Mohan which makes it a visual treat to watch on the big screen.
All in all, ‘Rajini Murugan’ is an enjoyable entertainer which will surely appeal to fans of Sivakarthikeyan as well as those who like watching light-hearted comedies. Go watch it this weekend!
