In exchange for reducing their energy usage, participants earn rewards in the form of cash and prizes. The more electricity you save, the more rewards you earn. For example, if you save 1 kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity during an #OhmHour event, you’ll earn 1 point. If you save 10 kWh, you’ll earn 10 points. These points can be redeemed for prizes like gift cards or cash payments through PayPal.
In addition to saving money on your energy bill and reducing your carbon footprint, participating in OhmConnect also helps to prevent blackouts caused by overloaded power grids. By reducing your energy consumption during peak demand periods, you’re helping to ensure that everyone has access to reliable electricity.
How Does OhmConnect Work?
To start earning rewards with OhmConnect, you first need to sign up for an account and connect your smart meter or utility account information. Once your account is connected, you’ll start receiving notifications when there are #OhmHours in your area. These #OhmHours typically occur during hot summer days when air conditioners are running full blast or during cold winter nights when space heaters are running non-stop.
