Do you want to make money writing? Perhaps you’ve been hesitating, wondering whether you can do it. If so, here’s a super-simple process for you to follow. You have will clients within a few days.
Just follow the process — it’s worked for others, and will work for you, too.
1. Create at Least Two Writing Samples
You want clients who will pay you to write, so your success depends on how well you can think from the point of view of your prospective clients. Realize that they may have been burned by writers before. You need to assure them that you’re reliable, proficient and honest.
You have abilities which your clients need, but they also need a display of those abilities. So how will you show your clients what you can do?
Here’s the answer. Create samples. Create at least two examples of your writing. These can be simple. If you don’t have anything which would work as a sample, you can write a couple of articles. Of course, you can also use writing samples which you’ve already written.
2. Add Your Samples to a Blog
Once your samples are written, you need a way to display them online. The easiest way is on a blog.
However, before you do that, do a little research.
How much will you charge? This always seems to be a knotty question for new writers, but again you need to approach this from the point of view of your prospective clients.
When you’re new, people will help you, and you can learn while you’re earning. Therefore, during your apprenticeship, give your clients a price break — this works to your advantage and to theirs. They’ll get some (we hope) quality content, and you’ll learn how to work with clients and how to to sell your services.
3. Twitter Your Samples
Twitter is a boon for writers. You can tweet your blog postings, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you have buyers.
If you’re new to Twitter, you won’t yet have sufficient followers so that you can make much of an impact.
Here’s a way around that: getting touch with other writers, and tell them what you want to do. Beg a favor from a writer with many Twitter followers and ask them to tweet about your blog. Chances are that they will do that for you, they may even be able to help you to get your first clients.
