This article is a continuation from a previous article on how to do targeted keyword research as part of an effective search engine optimization plan.
In our last article we talked about six things that are the basis and beginning of an advanced keyword research strategy.
I would highly recommend that you seek out that article and read about these six powerful strategies.
The following and final five steps are equally important.
1. Unless you are already an advanced search engine optimization expert, I would recommend that you find a good two-word or three-word keyword phrase that gets somewhere between 50 and 400 searches per day.
You can choose a keyword phrases that get more than that for your homepage, but in order to rank an inside page, a blog post, or an article keep your expectation in that area.
The reason why you would want to find a keyword phrase that gets more than 400 searches per day for your homepage is because; your homepage is generally the most powerful page on your website and will generally rank much higher than the other pages even if you have a lot of competition.
2. The next part of the strategy is to take that two-word or three-word keyword phrase, and analyse who is currently the top ten on Google.com.
I realize that in the last article I said choose a keyword phrase that has less than 300,000 search results, and while that is a good start, what is really important here is that you rank on the front page.
Therefore, you want to know what the top ten are doing or are not doing, so that you can out-rank them.
I want you to think about this. It really doesn’t matter who was on page 2 through page 300,000, all that really matters is who was on the front page.
Focus your efforts on what they are doing and make sure you employ strategies to do a little bit better. All you have to do is be a little bit better than your closest competition and you will find yourself on the front page of Google.com
3. When you analyze the top ten look at two key areas: how those websites optimized their webpages on site by following good keyword density contest in terms of title, URL, description, and head.
4. Pay close attention to how many back-links each of those websites has, not only to the page on their website that ranks in the top ten, but how much back-links they have to their entire site.
I would say that if five out of the top ten have less than five back-links to the page, and less than 3000 back-links to the entire site then that would be a good keyword phrase.
5. However, what is the relationship between the amount of back-links and good keyword density? For that you are going to need some training.
While it would be nice to just read these two short articles and understand targeted keyword research from the inside out, that is not usually possible.
I would recommend that you read the bio section, just after this article to find out exactly what is the best way to initiate an outstanding keyword research strategy and how quickly, easily, and effective it could be to get started on the right foot.
