Keyword research is the foundation and the base of just about every internet marketing business. I mean think about it. Anyone who does pay per click marketing has to be very picky and choose carefully about which keyword they want to promote on. Where one keyword may convert at 10% while the other may only convert at around 2% so which one do you want to promote on?
How about SEO (ranking high in search engines) it would not be very smart for someone with a new website and no experience to try and rank for a keyword that has 100 million other websites competing for the same top spot. Instead they should try for around 1 million. It only makes sense.
Let us get back to keyword research for PPC, but don’t go run off and buy a new fancy pansy new keyword tool because you will not need. I can’t believe how many people waste their time and money looking for keyword tools when the best one is offered to you for free by Google.
But there is still one really great free keyword tool available to you 24 hours a day 7 days a week and it’s called your brain. People refuse to give their brains enough credit. Seriously you have no idea how powerful the human brain is, and don’t tell me your as dumb as a brick because you’re not and never believe it.
One last piece of advice I think you will need for your keyword research is information about the customer purchasing life cycle. You see the customer purchasing life cycle is the cycle someone will go through before they purchase anything. It goes like this:
1. A need must be fulfilled
2. Go and find a product
3. Research the product, read reviews
4. Buy the product
You see you will want to catch the customer at the fourth and final cycle and if you do so it will most likely be a sale for you.
