Sketch is a vector drawing software that is widely used in the web design industry. In this tutorial, I will introduce you to the basics of Sketch and how you can use it to create beautiful designs.
Sketch is a vector drawing software that was created for Mac in 2009. It has since become a popular choice for web designers, thanks to its vector-based design tools and ease of use.
In this tutorial, I will introduce you to the basics of Sketch and show you how you can use it to create beautiful designs.
Getting started
When you first open Sketch, you will be presented with a blank canvas. The first thing you need to do is create a new document. To do this, go to File > New.
The New Document window will appear. Here, you need to set the dimensions of your document. For web design, I recommend setting the width to 1280 pixels and the height to 1024 pixels.
Once you have set the dimensions, click on the Create button.
The canvas will now be populated with a 1280×1024 pixel grid. This grid will be useful for positioning your elements accurately.
Working with layers
Sketch is a layer-based software. This means that everything is placed on its own layer. This makes it easy to move and edit elements, as you can simply select the layer you want to work with.
To create a new layer, go to Layer > New Layer.
A new layer will be created and the layer will be selected. You can now start drawing on the layer.
To select a layer, click on it. The layer will be highlighted and the other layers will be dimmed.
To move a layer, click and drag it.
To delete a layer, select it and press the Delete key.
Drawing shapes
Sketch comes with a variety of built-in shapes that you can use to create designs.
To create a shape, go to Insert > Shape.
A menu of shapes will appear. Select the shape you want to use.
A new shape will be created on the canvas. You can now edit the shape.
To edit a shape, select it and use the tools in the toolbar.
The toolbar contains a variety of tools for editing shapes, such as the pen tool, the line tool, and the
