Increasing website traffic is important to all webmasters, but there’s a few traffic generation myths that I’d like to clear up for you with this article.
Website traffic generation myth #1 – more content is always better
This is a myth for a number of reasons because more content does not always means you get more traffic is because on your on-page optimization factors. If you have a website in a micro-niche, or a niche that only has less than a dozen keywords associated with it, then over-writing or over-publishing content is overkill that leads to very little increase in your traffic numbers. As a general rule, posting content frequently keeps your numbers up because you’re adding new content to get spidered and adding to the overall number of keywords and tags being used on your site.
However, the point here is that you can increase website traffic by careful keyword selection and targeting those keywords, then practicing effective link building. If your on-page optimization is done properly, meaning that the keywords and tags are being targeted with your site content,t hen you don’t really have to write tons of content targeting those keywords in order to rank well.
The silo site enthusiasts may argue that building up content-rich categories with 6 posts, pages, or articles for each category will make your site rank well for the terms used in those categories and posts, but it’s really not necessary if your content pages are long enough and include a mix of the keywords you’re targeting in these “long” content pieces.
If you want to increase traffic to your websites, there’s a two tactics you can take, and the first one is to write a lot of keyword-rich articles, and the second method is to write just a few long articles then use a link building service to get those quality content pieces ranked well. If money’s tight then putting in more manual labor is probably the right approach for you, but if you’re trying to get more traffic but with less effort, that is how you do it.
