With nearly 70% of the market in the world of search, Google is the 800 pound gorilla of search engines. If you ignore Google as a way of getting traffic, you’re doing so at your peril and it will likely lead to your quick and untimely demise in the online world.
How To Get Traffic From Google
You have a veritable cornucopia of options when it comes to getting traffic from the mighty Google. The two most obvious ways to get traffic are through search engine optimization (SEO) and Adwords, their pay per click (PPC) program.
You can get thousands upon thousands of visitors a day just from getting your website ranked highly (although it takes time), or you can get those thousands of visitors if you’re willing to pay for them by bidding on certain keywords (great for those with a good sized advertising budget and the need to get traffic immediately).
But there’s more to getting traffic from Google than just SEO and PPC.
Benefitting From Google’s Narcissism
Google love itself and all things related to it. You’ll frequently find at least one if not more of their properties ranking in the top 10 of the search engine listings for competitive keywords.
Here are just a few of the properties owned by Google that it just loves to rank highly in the search engines:
· YouTube
· Google Video
· Google Sites
· Blogger
· Google Knol
· Google Groups
· Google Maps
· Google Product Search
If you have listings on any of those websites, you have a natural advantage over the completion. Think about how many times you’ve done a search and have seen a video from YouTube appearing in the top ten. (Do a search for “make money on eBay” and you’ll find at least one video if not more).
One tactic you should be using is to have put your content and product listings on each of those services (where appropriate).
You can use those properties to drive traffic back to your website.
