In my opinion, the first, and one of the most important steps all newbies should take is setting a goal. That’s the first thing you should do. Write out what you hope to accomplish. Do you want to make $50 a day, do you want to make $100 a day or do you want to be the next internet millionaire? All of these are very doable if you have the right mindset, a blueprint to follow and the action to back it all up. You see, the basics of making money online are fairly simple.
You need a profitable market, a passionate list of potential buyers, a product to promote to those potential buyers and traffic to let them know about your product. Lets briefly discuss each one of these. Most people look for a product to promote first, but you should actually look for a profitable that is full of hungry buyers. An example of such a market would be the weight loss market. New weight loss products come out just about every day. And that’s because people in that market are always looking for the next big thing to buy.
They will buy weight loss product after weight loss product without any hesitation. And that’s why its a billion dollar a year industry. So find a market first. Once you have your market, start building a list. The quickest way to build a list is to just give something of value away. So if you decide to get into the weight loss market, create a short report giving away great information about losing weight. In the report you will link to an affiliate product. This will give you a chance to make income from the free report.
But the bigger picture is that you now have the email address of someone who is interested in losing weight. This means you can now send out emails to them letting them know about what you have to offer. This means you have the potential to make money off of this person for years to come. And last by not least you need traffic. None of the other stuff matters if you have no traffic coming to your site.
I personally do a lot of article marketing. It works great so I continue to do it. However, there are many other ways you can generate traffic to a site. For instance video marketing, social media sites, bookmarking, PPC, media buys and the list goes on and on. You just have to find the way that works best for you. Once you start generating a steady stream of traffic, your income will start to grow.
