The idea of getting a list of emails to promote your product is a good one. But it is usually very difficult to do this without getting into spam problems. But email marketing is a great way of getting new customers and people that want to try out a product. So if they like it and want more, why not just add them to your list and email them?
But people that come to your website and actually opt in to your email list want something for that. Not only do they have to be invited to be on an email list, but they have to have requested it at that. So you could do this with an email but not with an advertisement.
You have two choices. Either you just put in an email address and then emails go out to that address or you have a form on your site and people have to fill out that form to get added to your list. But either way you have people entering their name and email address to get on your email list.
So in your email promoting system you have a checkbox. If they ticked that box they have been added to your email newsletter list. And the check box has an address for you to send your emails from. You can’t send from an address that is part of your website.
So email marketing is a great way of getting people to know you and to see you as the expert you are and to get them to click on your site for that product. And once they get to your site there are some things you can do to make people feel welcome.
The first thing you do is try to reassure them. Show them that you value their time. Tell them that you appreciate them signing up for your system. Tell them that they are important to you.
Once they’ve ticked that box that means you’re not spamming them. It’s an email address they’ve given you voluntarily, it’s not something they’ve been stuck with from an email campaign that they didn’t want to opt out of. And then they know that it’s safe to go to your site and make a purchase, as they have been tickled pink. So your website has gone to a safe haven.
So I would say the best way to make sure that they opt in is to give them a thank you email and then a thank you newsletter after they’ve tickled pink. Then maybe a survey.
