Solo Ads
These are the most valuable forms of ezine advertising. Just as the name suggests, these are ads sent to the list as stand alone ads. Going for ad placement such as these helps increase response directly as there is nothing else acting as a distraction to people reading your ads. You should note however that ads of this nature are usually more expensive than the other forms of advertising in ezines.
There are sometimes however that solo ads won’t work for you. You see, if someone has got a big and responsive list, he won’t want to run a solo ad for anybody for a little fee. Instead of selling a solo ad space to you for a chicken feed, they will rather send the mailing to their list themselves and make good money.
This happens mostly in the Internet marketing niche. If you are experienced in the Internet marketing niche you will know how valuable your list is so you won’t give it how to just anyone that comes along with a few dollars. You can however find cheap solo ads in other niches. Many webmasters in other niches don’t know the value of their list.
Top Sponsor Ads
These are positioned on the top of an ezine and because of the vantage position, can be very effective. They are usually read by everyone who opens up the ezine because of the position. Ads like this don’t get buried up in the maze of other materials, they are actually seen and out-perform regular classified 3 to 1 in.
Sometimes, ads of this nature performs better than solo ads as the later stand a chance of ending up in the thrash can before it is even read. I love top sponsor ads a lot especially in the Internet marketing niche.
You see, those that read your top sponsor ads are those that are actually want to read the ezine. That means you will be able to tell how effective the ezine is for future purposes. If your top sponsor ads don’t convert, then there is a high probability that the subscribers of the ezine don’t actually read the ezine.
Classifieds
Found all through the ezine at the end of regular content within the ezine or as a break at the end of sections in the content. These type of ad can easily get lost in the content and end up not been seen BUT they represent a way of starting out where the budget is slim.
Middle Sponsor Ads
These types of ads are usually placed within the contents of the ezine, usually in the middle. They are not as expensive as the top sponsor ads but they are also effective in the sense that those that read them are actually those that are reading the contents of the ezines so they are likely to be those who are really serious about such topics.
Bottom Sponsor Ads
These are ads placed at the bottom of the ezine. They are usually more effective than classifieds as they sometimes get seen simply because most email users have a knack for scrolling right to the bottom of an email before closing it up.
Also, some ezines give gifts and pre-taste of upcoming issues at the end of the ezine. This makes the visibility of the ads at these bottom spots more visible.
