It's no secret that SEO is a complex and ever-changing field. And as someone who's been involved in the industry for over a decade, I can attest to the fact that it can be overwhelming for even the most experienced professionals.

That's why I wanted to share a quick and easy hack that can help you rank for more keywords. It's called "keyword Cannibalization" and it's a technique that I've used with great success.

What is keyword cannibalization?

In a nutshell, keyword cannibalization is when you target the same keyword on multiple pages of your website. For example, let's say you have a blog post about "SEO tips" and you also have a page on your website that's optimized for "SEO tips".

This is an issue because it confuses Google as to which page they should rank for the keyword. As a result, both pages will likely suffer in the search rankings.

How do you fix keyword cannibalization?

The easiest way to fix keyword cannibalization is to use what's called "canonical tags". Canonical tags tell Google which page on your website is the "master" page for a particular keyword.

For example, let's say you have two pages on your website that are both optimized for the keyword "SEO tips". You would add a canonical tag to one of those pages (usually the one with the most content or highest authority) that tells Google: "”Hey Google, this is the page that I want you to rank for the keyword 'SEO tips'”

Here'”s how you would add a canonical tag in HTML:

rel=”canonical” href=”http://www.example.com/seo-tips/”>

You can also add canonical tags via WordPress plugins like Yoast SEO or All in One SEO Pack.
