Very Happy with ySky 2in1 512G SSD Flash Drive

I purchased it for a fast and convenient way to manage, remove and save over 18 thousand high resolution pictures and videos that I had accumulated over 3 years on my Apple Iphone 12. I was able to completely backup All content in about 25 minutes and it took just a few minutes to unload the Flash drive to another computer I have which is backed up by a larger device.
To me, the ease, flexibility, speed and efficiently is unmatched for something in this price range.

I also wanted to point out the exceptional customer service I received from the ySky. I did have a couple of questions about the specific use of the device on my Iphone and not only did they address my questions in a timely manner, they followed up more than once to see if the process worked and that if I had any other quetsions, don’t hesitate to contact them.

It’s a 128GB flash drive. I like that this comes with covers for both ends so that it can be stored in a purse or backpack without worry that dirt or crumbs will get into the drive ends. I wish that the caps were somehow attached to the case to make it harder to lose them. but otherwise this is a great flash drive.

Overall, LOVE the product. I got it to be able to film 4k 60 fps PRO RES LOG footage on my new iPhone 15 Pro and it works like a charm. I love how small it is to fit into any bag or pocket. It was a little challenging to get working at first but I emailed their customer service and they got back to me within 24 hours with a video and everything. SUPER HELPFUL and appreciated their customer service even more than the product. 🙂 I thought the product was a litttttle over priced but there isn’t much on the market so I guess it is what it is.

Small and fast

With big family in the house I’m always running out of storage and it’s so hard to connect the phone to the computer to copy the videos/pictures. That’s where the solid state flash drive comes into picture it is an excellent value as it is super fast with its usb c connection and a good work around.
I noticed that when I copied over 30gb of data to the drive on my Galaxy note phone the drive ran really really hot. Other than that the transfer rate is as it is advertised.
Big drawback is the physical design of the drive with its c connector, hard to explain so picture attached. With my case on, the drive will not connect. So i have to take the case off everytime i need to use it.

The case and keychain is a plus.

Still 5 stars.

Exceptional speed and overall build quality

I have owned dozens of thumb drives over the years, and most of them, even the expensive ones, were cheap, plastic ‘toys’ that had miserable transfer speeds, and using them felt like being transported back into the 90s. Not a great experience. I can honestly say that this drive is a substantial step up from any thumb drive I’ve ever purchased in this price range.

In terms of speed – I am using this drive with an M1 Macbook Pro Max. I tested its speed with the Blackmagic disk speed test five times, the average result was 345 MB/s write, 446 MB/s read. These are HIGHLY respectable speeds for a thumb drive. You could literally edit 4k video directly off this device without issue, which is bonkers.

The build feels like it’s a premium, solid chunk of metal in terms of weight, durability etc. The shape, size and weight are great. There is a slight raised area in the middle that gives you the leverage needed to very easily insert/remove the device from your computer.

There is an end cap covering the connectors on either end that blend right into the body of the device and look great. The USB-A connector fits nice and snug and will protect that port for years to come. Love it.

And here’s where my single complaint about this device comes in – the end cap covering the USB-C port is very loose fitting, to the point that it will not stay put if I throw this into an electronics kit bag, etc. Now, this may just be a manufacturing defect on my unit so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and not dock a star for this, it’s too minor an issue given how great this device is overall. But I do hope the manufacturer addresses this one flaw.

Well-constructed USB flash drive

This may be the most solid, well-built USB flash drive I’ve ever seen. The housing appears to be made of metal, and it feels solid and durable. On top of that, it even comes with its own little carrying pouch with a keyring, which is also well-constructed. As for the storage aspect, the drive performs well. I haven’t tested transfer speeds between the USB-A vs. USB-C connections, but it seems quick and in line with other flash drives I use. The flexibility of having both connectors built-in means I can easily transfer files between a PC and a newer Mac or Android phone, which I appreciate.

Metal design, fast transfer speeds, comes with a keychain case. The only thing I question is the use of drive caps instead of a swivel design. To me, losing the caps is inevitable, but it’s a minor quibble. This is a good value for an OTG drive made of metal ($26 for a 128 GB capacity as of this writing.)
