The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL over the last decade. They have won Super Bowls, made the playoffs numerous times, and have been a consistent contender year after year. In spite of all of this success, there are still some who believe that the Eagles are not a true dynasty.

Those who believe that dynasties are built on more than just success on the field point to the fact that the Eagles have only won one Super Bowl in their history. They also argue that the team has never really been dominant, always just good enough to win. Additionally, they say that the team has benefited from a weak NFC East division and haven’t had to face much competition in their own division.

There is some truth to these arguments, but they don’t tell the whole story. The Eagles have been one of the most successful teams in recent memory and there is no doubt that they are a dynasty.

The Eagle’s run of success began in 2004 when they drafted quarterback Donovan McNabb. McNabb quickly became one of the best quarterbacks in the league and led the team to five NFC Championship appearances and one Super Bowl appearance. The team was consistently one of the best teams in the league during this time, but they were never able to win it all.

In spite of their lack of championships, there is no denying that the Eagles were a dynasty during this time period. They were consistently one of the best teams in football and were always in contention for a championship. The team was also able to draft several star players during this time period, including receiver DeSean Jackson and running back LeSean McCoy.

The team’s success continued into the Chip Kelly era. Kelly came into town and implemented his fast-paced offense which quickly made them one of the most exciting teams in football to watch. The Eagles offense was explosive and scored a ton of points; however, their defense was suspect at times which led to some disappointing playoff exits. Nonetheless, Kelly led them to back-to-back NFC East titles before he was let go after just three seasons.

The current era of Eagles football began with head coach Doug Pederson taking over in 2016. Pederson inherited a team that was coming off of back-to-back 7-9 seasons and didn’t have much expectations heading into his first season as head coach. However, Pederson quickly turned things around as he led them to an impressive 10-6 record en route to winning their first division title since 2013. The team then went on to shock everyone as they upset both the Falcons and Vikings en route to their first ever Super Bowl appearance under Pederson. Although they ultimately lost to the Patriots in a close game, there was no denying that Pederson had turned them into a force to be reckoned with moving forward.

Since winning their first Super Bowl last season, expectations have been sky high for this Eagles team heading into 2018. Many people believe that they are now not only one of the best teams in football, but also considered a true dynasty after finally winning it all last year. There is no doubt that this team has all of the pieces necessary to make another run at a championship this season; however, it will be interesting to see if they can live up to these lofty expectations and cement themselves as one of greatest dynasties in NFL history.
