I got this to power a portable USB fan that I like to take when I travel. It packs small, and whether I am staying in a tent or in a cabin, I find circulating air necessary. This pair looked perfect for my wife and me to take when we hit the road to power those fans — the power is right, the size is right and the price is right.
Unfortunately, after exactly one minute, the device powers off when running the fan. I assume this is some sort of safety mechanism as either the fan is drawing too much or too little power and the device has a trip in it to stop. The “charge” still shows full when this happens and it works fine to power my phone even after this happens. I have other packs (although they are either too bulky and heavy or they don’t last all night powering the fan) so I thought this was the perfect compromise. Not so.
So… This device works to charge devices, but as a power pack to run my fan, it fails where every other power bank I have tried works. So it doesn’t work for my intended purpose, but it seems to work for ITS intended purpose. It’s a little disappointing in that regard. So three stars. It works, but it has some safety feature that prohibits it from being suitable for the purpose I had in mind.
