This works actually better than my expectations – but the problem I have with it is that the knob is just too darned sensitive. I got this to use as a 5v power supply, and it does a good job at that.
But you even brush against the voltage knob, and it’ll be at 4.5 to 5.6v with almost no movement. This needs to be as close to 5v as possible, so I adjusted it then sealed it with Marine GOOP sealant. That kept the knob from wandering – but I’m thinking I should have had to do that. A bit more resistance in the mechanism would have been nice!
Overall, like I said I’m very satisfied with it. The selection of tips fits virtually every electronic device out there (except some of the older USB connectors) so it’ll likely fit your use. And I hated taking a star off for something as minor as the knob, but that’s a significant drawback…
Would I buy one again? Yes – if I need a variable power supply again I would. Still have a lot of that GOOP left, after all… 😉
