The off-line clone function worked well and took no more time than expected based on average sustained read/write performance of the drives. (To start a clone: hold the button for three seconds until the indicator lights, then release and quick-press again.)

HDDs operate at about 40 degrees Celsius (20 over ambient) without additional cooling.

The included USB-C to USB-C cable is too short to reach the ports on my desktop PC with the dock sitting on the same desk, forcing me to put something under to the dock to raise it up which seemed a bit precarious in combination with the vertical orientation of the drives. I purchased a longer cable at a significant fraction of the dock price to address this.

This USB 3.0 Gen 1 Type C hard drive dock is compact in size compared to similar docks I’ve used and it has decent transfer speeds which can be dependent on the quality of cable used (I’ll explain that below) .

Transfer Speed: Tested with an WD Blue 1TB SSD – 412Mbps Write and 428Mbps Read.
I’m getting the same speeds using the short 20″ cable that came with it, and a longer 3ft cable that I purchased separately.
I would advise using a high quality “USB-IF Certified” and one rated for at least 10Gbps Gen 2 speeds if your require a longer length. I used a longer cheaper USB-Type C cable and my transfer speeds dropped to 38Mbps Write and 42Mbps Read, then I purchased a 3ft USB-IF Certified 10Gbps Gen 2 cable and all was good.

Inserting two drives in dock mounted and displayed as two separate drives on my desktop. I didn’t try the dock cloning feature as I use software to clone my drives.

Overall I would recommend this dock.
