I looked around at different cameras, and this was the clear winner.
I’m sure anyone who has installed security cameras in the past will agree making a camera that is 4G (in case WiFi is unavailable) and solar battery powered were two significant advances, and SEHMUA made these options affordable and still high-quality and still have a camera that tilts and swivels, pans, rotates, whatever movement is needed. The full-duplex microphone and speaker allow two-way communication. Night video is recorded with the White spotlight or covertly with the IR lights. The camera can also function as a motion-activated security light with an audible alarm. All of these choices are software-selectable.
The video quality is excellent in HD, either lit with white light or IR. The location of two of my cameras is in a spot with poor cellular reception, but I’ve never had a problem with connectivity. These two locations are also not near direct sunlight, yet the solar panels still keep the batteries charged in the 90-100% range unless we have several overcast days in a row. But the panels charge things back up on the sunnier days.
Other reviews commented on the plastic housing of the camera. I live on the South Coast of Oregon in the USA. We have high winds and overcast days this time of year, yet the cameras stay powered, and the mounting hardware stands up to the rough weather.
Installation and setup using the app took less than 15 minutes. The only adjustments I had to make were to the location of the solar panels to try for better exposure to direct sunlight.
And of utmost importance, the customer support after the sale has been excellent. I have contacted them a few times with something I couldn’t figure out, and they were spot-on each time.
Although they don’t have a live voice or chat option, I’ve always received prompt replies to my submitted questions. I was hesitant about this method at first but was pleasantly surprised with their service.
The only thing that keeps me from giving all five stars is the cameras do not automatically adjust their clock for Daylight Saving Time and require you to access the camera via the app and manually change the time. This isn’t very time-consuming, but we expect this adjustment to be automatic on all our other devices.
I have two of these 4G cameras and three of the model with WiFi. The WiFi models are identical, except connectivity uses WiFi instead of 4G. I give the same review to these cameras.
Overall, I would recommend this camera and the customer service.
