Construct the polymer repeating unit with the ease of building with LEGO blocks. Polymer-CAD then takes what you built and decomposes it into the appropriate groups for more than 12 Group Contribution Methods; it then calculates the estimated properties of the polymer. It allows you to calculate several fundamental properties of a polymer from its structure based using Group Contribution Methods or Quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) models. With Polymer-CAD you no longer have to wade through tables of groups to identify the groups in your polymer or perform calculations. A simple graphical interface in which you click on icons of atoms and basic structural units to build a molecule, you draw the monomer unit of your polymer only once and then let Polymer-CAD do the tedious work. Draw structures in any visually pleasing way you like, advanced technology recognizes the structure irrespective of how you draw it. Many properties of interest are calculated, using different methods, automatically, and from the single structure you draw. You can perform “What If” calculations simply and quickly by just redrawing parts of the structure and recalculating. You don’t have to worry whether a group is attached to an aromatic ring, is di-substituted or tri-substituted, is conjugated, is part of a ring, etc. Properties estimated include: Volumetric, Calorimetric, Transition, Optical, Electrical, Magnetic, Mechanical, Acoustic, Permeability, and Thermal Decomposition.
