I am using a Acer Nitro 5 AN515 Laptop. The quality you get at this price point is amazing. I am using this capture card as a upgrade from my hauppauge hd pvr 2. While looking around for a USB C capture card, I took a gamble with this company and it paid off. I personally will be sure to use them and suggest them in the future. (mind you this review is coming from the perspective from someone who is a computer nerd & twitch streamer)Just like most devices, leave it on long enough, it will get a little warm/hot (dont worry doesn't hurt). The only downside is that the audio has to be added in, its not with the HDMI signal but it works fine with no delay as far as i can tell. In case you need to sync audio. Plugable has a youtube video that shows how you can do it with OBS and similar programs for local recording/streaming. I added a screenshot to show how i have my audio added in alongside the capture source.I have also added a photo showing the color difference. Left side is my PS TV monitor (ya know the 3d one they sold for the ps3) and on the right is my laptop monitor with OBS Preview at full screen. Due to brightness difference between the two. The OBS preview looks better over whats being shown on the TV in my opinion. However to ensure i get the same quality. I made sure that my PS4 & OBS RGB Limiter is set the same to each other. If they made a upgraded version of this capture card where the audio doesn't have to be added as its own source, i would totally buy it again but as a budget gamer/twitch streamer. This card is totally worth the cost and I think you'll be hard pressed to find this kind of quality at this price point.
I use the NIX capture box under Linux. I’m really pleased with it’s performance in capture. While streaming with OBS the CPU use is acceptable for streaming and the overall stream quality is really nice. There is a color difference between 30 / 60 fps, unfortunately I’m not sure which one is right as i use a really crappy LCD TV hooked to the passthrough. Both look fine while playing (via the passthrough) and when capturing. No amount of tinkering with the video filter could get it 100% the same. I tried every recommendation on the NIX product page and all found here on the amazon reviews. Both look fine to me, the captures look good and the streams are ok.
The capture box itself has excellent build quality. All metal construction on the casing but most importantly the ports are rock solid when plugging in and out cables. My elgato HD Game Capture box’s ports were flimsy and eventually the mini USB port separated from the PCB rendering it useless (this is a known problem). I don’t expect this to happen with the NIX.
Also the packaging looks professional and the box is well secured within. Overall I’m very very happy with my purchase. And the price was so tempting i had to give it a try.
5.0 out of 5 stars
Great capture box for the money

If you’re like me, you’re looking at this product to use as a capture card between a console and your Mac/PC. This capture card is cheap and does the trick! I’m only giving 4 stars because it’s not user friendly or “plug and play.”
It takes some knowledge on tweaking image quality and stream quality. I’m moderately experienced in streaming/video editing & this took a bit to get fine tuned.
If you need a capture card, and don’t want to wait for the HD60s+ to restock, the Nix capture will serve its purpose until you upgrade!
We had purchased this capture device for live streaming our church services from a laptop since our services are now held outdoors. The device was easy to hook up, use and worked well with our broadcast software (Streamlabs OSB). However, it had a very poor audio connection that introduced some static distortion that we were not able to remedy. So, we ended up returning the capture device for a full refund (thank you) and are now going another direction.
So after using it for just a day I gotta say I am quite satisfied with the Nix capture card. Its nice it doesn’t have any extra software you need to install as it just works right out of the box. Works just fine with OBS studio, the input lag is actually not bad and some games are actually playable if your just using your recording screen however, I wouldn’t recommend it for games like FPS and Fighters which in that case it would be best to use the pass though. The build quality of the device itself is very well made, the whole thing is metal and was actually quite satisfying to take out of the box. Only minor drawback is the usb cable it came with is a tad short with how I have my setup (about 2ft) but getting a longer one isn’t really much of an issue as it just uses a male to male usb cable. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase!
I haven’t gotten the chance to tell you about the specs because the product simply doesn’t work with setup I’m trying to make. Let me explain, I’m using an IPhone to record and using the Nix Capture Card to gather all the footage to my computers. After lots of testing and a couple hours of research I’ve come to the conclusion that this product isn’t worth your time if you plan on using it on IOS devices supporting the lightning AV cable with an HDMI. The reason is because Apple has made the cable follow a HDCP chain, which this Capture Card doesn’t support so essentially it’s useless for me. I can’t tell you if the product is any good or not but if you plan to record with an IOS device I suggest looking for another capture card. If for some reason you do plan on sticking with this device your best bet is to purchase an HDMI splitter that supports HDCP and supposedly that will work, haven’t tried it myself but that’s the best I could find for a solution online. Goodluck
Ordered for my child. Arrived quickly, but the card that arrived did not work. Child reached out to customer service who helped troubleshoot things and determined card was defective. Send a replacement ASAP. Replacement arrived and worked perfectly. Child was very happy and I am very impressed as this all occurred within 1 to 1.5 weeks of first (original) card arriving.
Plug in and play as advertised, however there are some minor setting that you need to manually tweak on your own PC. The sound and picture are fairly accurate however the display color is every so slightly washed and there is a slight sharpness filter. However these can be both rectified through simple filters.
Sound wasn’t an issue when corrected, for whatever reason the default sound quality is fairly poor but again this can be rectified very easily through your control panel
Overall: It requires a very minimal effort on your end to correct some minor things however once done; this capture card is fantastic for the price. Picture is great and the card itself doesn’t get too hot or overheat.
