When it comes to baseball, there is no denying that Pete Rose is one of the greatest players to ever step on the field. He is also one of the most controversial figures in the history of the sport, due to his involvement in gambling. Rose played for the Cincinnati Reds from 1963 to 1978, and was one of the key players on their World Series winning team in 1975. He was a three-time World Series champion, and was named National League MVP in 1973. He also holds the record for most hits in a career, with 4,256.
After his playing career ended, Rose became manager of the Reds from 1984 to 1989. During his time as manager, he led the team to two more World Series appearances, although they were unable to win it all again. In 1989, Rose was banned from baseball for life after it was revealed that he had bet on baseball games, including those of his own team.
Despite his ban from baseball, Rose’s popularity has only grown in recent years. He has been inducted into numerous Hall of Fames, including the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. In 2010, he published his autobiography My Prison Without Bars, which became a New York Times bestseller.
