Low cost. Just plug it into a USB drive and you can read barcodes on paper or on a screen. I had mine putting info into an XL spreadsheet within 5 minutes of opening the box. I checked paper barcodes, laptop screens and phone screens; all can be easily read. The device also comes with a manual that allows for simple reconfiguration, like what character it uses after scanning. This made it very easy to switch between return (moving 1 cell down) versus tab (moving 1 cell to the right).
The only negative is the stand is unnecessary for my applications. I’d guess that this device is marketed for low-rate users like me. If you were a retail outlet, you would probably buy a higher-end model. For this market, a stand is not work the weight and storage requirements.
