You won’t find a cheaper “part” that helps you more than Mopar B-Body Restoration 1966-1970.
Getting Started
Choosing to rescue a forgotten muscle car might save you money up front but can be costly when you begin to unravel all of the damage caused by years of neglect.
Disassembly
All the stainless on the window trim of all of these cars, whether vinyl top or not, is of the same design. It is held on around the windows with a clip that snaps into the trim’s rolled edge. These clips are often rusted and difficult to release without damaging the stainless trim.
Bodywork
As you can see, the important door and quarter seam is perfect in height and in width. Tack it in so it does not move from this desired placement.
Whether you’re installing headlights or replacing the roof, Mopar B-Body Restoration 1966–1970 guides you through some of the most intimidating tasks in bringing your Dodge or Plymouth back to life.
Paint Prep & Painting
Shoot the interior door panels and the grille black-out first. After they dry re-mask those areas and shoot the hood stripes. Don’t mask the hood-to-fender gaps if you want it to look like the factory did the stripes. Just let the overspray happen naturally.
Suspension Overview
These original appearing finishes stand up to use after the restoration is complete. Notice the castle nuts and cotter pin. It’s important to note that the lower ball–to-spindle nut should not be a tri-castle nut. The upper ball joint–to-spindle should have the tri-castle nut and the lower multi-castle nut.
Misc. Mechanicals
Blast the window regular and paint with stainless steel paint. Lubricate and test it to make sure it functions smoothly and correctly. If needed, replace the plastic pivot wheel if it doesn’t move freely in the slot of the lower glass bracket. Mount the device inside the door using three bolts. Make sure the threads for the handle are clean and in good shape. Chase it with a tap to make sure the handle screw fully seats.
