The craftsman started working with leather shortly after graduating from high school as an apprenticeship in colonial Williamsburg, VA, making saddles and harnesses. He started making fly swatters while working in a leather shop in a recreated 19th Century village in the Ohio Historical Center north of the Fairgrounds in Columbus OH. The wooden handles are sourced from an Amish furniture maker located in Ohio’s Amish country. This handmade Amish leather fly swatter takes us back to an era before mass production when skilled craftsmen produced fine quality furniture and tools by hand. The Ash wood handle has a hole at the end and a Leather or Hemp loop.* The loop is convenient for hanging this high-quality swatter in the kitchen, on the porch, around the picnic table, in the Tack Room or wherever you may be called upon to unleash the final judgement upon that pesky Fly, Bee.
