I bought a few different types of “USB 3” HDMI capture cards from Amazon. Not all of them are actually USB 3 – many are really USB 2. But this one IS USB 3! You can see evidence from the System Information app screenshot from Mac OS that I shared.
One important thing to note. It’s USB 3 when plugged in directly to a USB C port. If you plug it in with the included USB C to USB A adapter, it is only USB 3 in ONE orientation only. If you’re seeing USB 2 speeds while using the adapter, flip the USB C plug upside down and try again. Unfortunately, while USB C is reversible, the adapter is NOT reversible. One way is USB 2 and the other is USB 3. I wish they explained this on the page or in the instructions. I only caught it because I was checking.
USB 2.0 = 480Mpbs, USB 3.0 = 5Gbps
