If you do not solder, do not buy this kit. You are expected to solder the two rows of header pins to the Pico before you can do the projects. You cannot use this kit without soldering.
I was originally not impressed when I read the Pi Pico announcement. The world already has Arduino, so why do we need a Pi that is not a Pi? But after playing with this kit and exploring the specs of the Pico, I am very impressed. It’s quite an impressive board, and light years beyond the Arduino UNOs that I have mostly been using.
After soldering up the cables, I was able to install Python and get a blinking LED going… which is fun because I don’t know Python. I was not able to figure out the steps needed to get the C compiler running on Windows, but Python seems easy enough. You can install a runtime Python interpreter to the Pico and make it so it powers up and runs the Python script.
This is going to be great fun.
