I’d like to say the CD drive works great! I had an old CD with family photos that was barely readable via externalized CD readers from old MacBooks (photos took forever to transfer, would randomly stop due to read issues, and would copy all corrupted), and this device read the disc just fine! I was also able to have two flash drive and an SD card readable at the same time. Lastly, the USB cable can also power the device, so no need to hook up the power connector and chew up an extra USB spot on the computer.
Some nitpicks though: first, the cable is directly connected to the CD drive, so if that cable fails, the whole device is useless. Second, the SD card sticks out a bit further than I’m comfortable with, even though it’s on the back of the drive (see picture for reference). Lastly, it didn’t seem that I could connect a microSD and regular SD at the same time. Whatever card was inserted first would be read, and not the other. Still giving the product five stars as these issues are highly situational and not a big deal.
