I am always in need of extra power strips so when I saw this CRST power strip I ordered it.
At first glance it looks better made than the last one I bought from a very well-known manufacturer. It comes with a 12-month “resposible” warranty according to the enclosed card. “Responsible” maybe?
“The power strip has eight outlets with reasonable spacing. I do wish, however, that manufacturers rotated their outlets by 90 degrees so that smart plugs can be used more easily. A smart plug on this power strip would cover three outlets.
Excluding the wall mounts at either end the power strip is 16 inches long. The plug is a flat one which is something I really prefer and the cable itself is approximately six feet in length.
The power strip is rated for 15 amps or 1875 watts which is good enough for most purposes. It is supposed to be rated at 2100 joules surge protection which seems a little high. Every other similar surge protector I own is rated around 600 joules so 2100 seems very high. Be that as it may the listing and the box it came in both claim 2100 joules.
Overall, this is a very solid power strip that is well-made, and I will be putting it to good use. I do wonder about the protection rating, but as my critical equipment goes through a UPS it’s not a big issue for me. It’s at a reasonable price for such a device and is well worth consideration.
