I love the Channie’s my first letters book. I have successfully used this book to teach my left handed boy how to form his letters correctly and currently working with left handed boy number two in the same book.

The pictures are a cute reward for them to get to color as a treat when they finish their letters. Perfect amount of practice without being too overwhelming.

This is a not a self study or a self teach book you will need to guide and show them and correct them as they go. There are no teaching suggestions or proper posture/holding guidelines so this book is very bare bones.

Perfect for practice and for teaching if that if what you need.

On the positive side, these arrived earlier than I expected and my son was excited to start using them and created his own “lesson plan” with how he wanted to use them. He wanted to do more work each day than I was originally going to ask of him, so I was happy with that.
On the downside, they are very flexible. I like that they are magnets and not going to be lost easily as they are stuck to the refrigerator. However; when you want to use one, you need to have a desk, table or other hard surface to set it on to start writing. I was hoping for something a little more firm.
Also – when it says there is a blank side for practicing math or other things, I was expecting an honestly “blank” side. I was not thinking a magnetic board that is simply missing the outlines of the letters but has all of the other lines, colors, etc… on it. I was envisioning a backside that is just plain white – nothing on it. But the backs of these are black and magnets. Not anything wrong with that – just wasn’t how I understood the description originally.
All in all I think they are a good value for the money and will help my sons handwriting improve (provided he continues to practice with them of course) 🙂

I have two sons – one in 1st grade & the other in Kinder. My oldest has Autism and has a bit of a hard time with gross motor and separating letters and words in sentences. My youngest just plain has awful handwriting!
I got this as a recommendation from my oldest son’s ABA therapist because she uses it with another client and I cannot tell you how much my kids handwriting has improved!
I have looked at other workbook and none of them compared. This one has spaces that define every single letter and helps kids visually understand that there has to be a space in between each letter and how to write the letter correctly.
While it is boring and even a little frustrating to do so many letters in one sitting, this workbook works great if you do a line per day. Trust me, your kid will thank you later when they get compliments on their handwriting.
It’s totally worth the buy!!! 100% recommend!!!

I would give this five stars, but I’ve had it for a short period of time. I will come back and review it later. I homeschool and I’ve tried so many books and programs. I got easy peasy handwriting because I loved how it was color coded and the lines. After teaching A and B, my son wrote them beautifully on a chalkboard. Saying that, I recently read an article about (especially homeschool), whether to teach cursive, and if so, do you teach print or handwriting first. This has been a debate since I started homeschooling over 12 years ago. After I read the article, I decided to teach my five year old cursive first. It’s not easy for my son at first, but print isn’t either. He’s taking to cursive pretty quickly. I ordered more cursive paper because while there is a lot of practice with the dotted lines, There isn’t much for the child to practice without the dotted lines. So far, I’m very pleased with my purchase. I have had to make some slight changes…but so far, I’m very pleased with this product!
