I ordered this specifically to replace an undersized power cord on my built-in dishwasher. A couple of weeks ago the dishwasher quit working and seemed to have no power. After inspecting the power to the outlet, I finally opened up the power connection box in the dishwasher and was frightened by what I saw: apparently some overheating had taken place where the power lines from the dishwasher connect to the power cable, and I was presented with burned, broken and bare wires. I’m amazed that we didn’t have a fire or similar issue. I discovered that the dishwasher had been installed with a 16-gauge power cable, and that the appliance recommended 12-gauge, or 14-gauge at a minimum. The dishwasher was pulling more power through the cable than it was designed to handle, which is an extreme fire hazard. I ordered the cable to act as a replacement, and promptly installed it (which took less than 5 minutes for my Whirlpool.) This is obviously something that eluded the home inspector, and it underscores why it is so important to use the proper size power cables on appliances.
From a review standpoint, this is a 6-foot 3-wire power cable with 12-guage wire. It’s strong and heavy and appears well made. I had no problems installing it as a replacement to the original cord. It was exactly what I needed. I would definitely order it again if the need arose.
