I really wanted to give this five stars, but reviews should be honest. I docked one star because the first unit I received was not recognized by any system, so I returned it for a replacement.
Like many others, I’m using the dummy plug to keep the GPU active on a headless system so it doesn’t act funny when I connect to it via remote desktop, and to keep its GPU active for video transcoding. The EDID emulator offers plenty of resolutions and modes, including 1080p 120Hz and 2160p (4K) 60Hz. I set my system to 1080p 24Hz because (1) 30Hz for some reason is not available, and (2) it’s headless and in theory the lower frequency will provide a more stable remote connection over the internet with higher latency.
Basically, this device does exactly what we expect of it, but I have small concerns over reliability and longevity. If I remember later down to the road, I’d probably be willing to upgrade my rating to 5 stars.
