I admit that I have no experience with other capture cards. In fact, the price of other capture cards was enough to make me feel that being able to capture video footage from older consoles was out of my reach.
I wanted to capture video from an original xbox.
Of course, the original xbox doesn’t have an hdmi output so I needed a converter first (I used one from Pound). With the hdmi out of that converter I plugged it into the video capture device and…there it was. That’s all there was to it really other than I needed to download OBS.
Exactly what I wanted and easy to set up and record. In fact, it was a matter of minutes.
I’m sure other more expensive cards have more features or less lag, but I was able to play xbox games with this with no trouble at all, even being able to do quick time events like normal. If there was lag I didn’t notice it.
I recommend this whole heartedly.
A disclaimer though, I’ve only had it for a few days, so if it’s prone to breaking down or anything after a while, I don’t know about it but there’s nothing so far that has led me to believe it would.
