My binocular requirements are fairly basic compared to some people, so keep that in mind when reading this review. I’m not going to dive into the technical aspects of the Gosky 10X42 HD binoculars, nor am I in a position to compare and contrast them to various other models. My needs are fairly simple – I just want to be able to see the birds and wildlife that frequent my neighborhood and this part of my state, plus I want to do so without breaking the bank. In both regards, this Gosky model lines up.
There’s an old, beat-up pair of Jason binoculars that I’ve been using. I “inherited” them from someone who no longer desired their company, and they probably date back to the mid-1980s. The Gosky binoculars are a godsend by comparison!
The qualities that I value most:
• Lighter weight, so they’re easier for me to handle;
• Rubberized coating makes them easier for me to grip;
• Wider field of vision, so I’m able to view more with less effort;
• Clearer, crisper, sharper views (which may relate to the age of the old set);
• Better clarity and brightness when viewing in lower light settings.
BOTTOM LINE: The Gosky 10×42 HD binoculars certainly meet the needs of this backyard birder and Alaska critter voyeur. When I placed my order, they were retailing in the range of $90 which seemed like a very good value. At the time of this review, they’re going for about $120, something I point out merely as an observation – not a value judgement. Everyone’s needs are different, so YMMV.
