I was skeptical about buying this bypass because there are SWG Bypass products costing over twice as much. I used this on my 2020 Giulia to perform routine maintenance and reset the service interval. While this isn’t the only product you’ll need it is a requirement to be able to write to the ECU in newer Stellantis vehicles (Afla, Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, etc).
Installation wasn’t difficult but it wasn’t the easiest thing either. You can’t mess it up, it only installs one way, but access is a pain. The SGW on a Giulia is behind the lower dash next to the steering column. You can get a single hand into the space without disassembling anything but the wire connectors you’ll need to unplug from the SGW are hit or miss as far as the release clips are concerned and you can’t see what you’re doing. You have to do everything by feel. One came right off, the other took 10-15 minutes of fiddling with a paper clip to get the second clip released. I HIGHLY recommend getting an extension harness for your SGW so you will only ever have to perform that task once. It’s not pleasant!
Where this device differs from some of the more expensive bypass units is that this one replaces your OBDII port while it’s plugged in. In addition to this product, I also needed to purchase an ELM327 adaptor to connect the car to my laptop. For simple tasks, such as resetting the oil change interval, no other adaptors are needed.
