We all have our stories about bad experiences with hotels and motels. Whether it’s a roach in the room, a bedbug infestation, or just a general feeling of unease, there are some places that we just don’t feel comfortable spending the night. And then there are the truly horror stories – the ones that make us glad we didn’t end up staying in that particular place.

1. The Roach Motel
This story comes to us from Reddit user Throwawaylemon7, who shared his experience staying in a “roach motel” on the popular website. He and his girlfriend were traveling through Florida when they decided to stop for the night at a roadside motel. They were tired and it was getting late, so they didn’t really have time to look for another place to stay.
The room they got was small and shabby, but they figured it would be fine for just one night. They were wrong. Almost as soon as they turned on the light, they saw roaches everywhere – crawling on the walls, on the floor, and even on their bed.
They tried to ignore them and go to sleep, but it was impossible with roaches crawling all over them. In the end, they ended up sleeping in their car – which was infested with roaches as well. They left first thing in the morning and vowed never to stay in another roadside motel again.
2. The Bedbug-Infested Motel Room
This story comes from Amanda Lackey, who shared her experience with bedbugs on her blog. She was traveling with her family when they stopped at a motel for the night. The room they got was small and cramped, but it seemed clean enough. They were all tired from driving, so they went to bed early.
