Anyone who wants to get started as an affiliate marketing expert is going to have a plethora of hurdles to jump over.
Since we are all beginners at one point – I am no at the point now where I am considered an expert at online marketing; but this came at a price. I failed for over 4 years and spent literally thousands of dollars “learning the ropes” as they say.
Often times, beginner affiliate marketers are overwhelmed with so many tasks, and it gets difficult to figure out where to spend the majority of your time. People often spend hundreds of hours doing the wrong tasks such as writing blog posts, writing articles, paying for eBooks to get written, backlinking, etc.
However, these tasks, though important, are NOT going to get you paid fast (with obvious exceptions).
So my goal for you here is to give you clear-cut, proven topics of focus that will make you money if you learn the process and persist. These 3 tips are not theory – they are tangible tasks that you must do in order to start succeeding.
Once you start to get sales, then you can focus on all the other things you need to do. But for now, as a business owner, you need to start getting sales and making cash in order to further fund your business.
Make sense?
Okay, here we go.
The 3 Things You MUST Do as a Beginner Affiliate Marketer to Make Sales
1. Set up a squeeze page
Squeeze pages (also called landing pages, opt-in pages, etc) are the first thing you need to set up. You want to start to brand yourself as the expert in whatever niche you are targeting. You will most likely need to learn simple WordPress basics along with some plug-ins. If you are not tech savvy, that is fine. You can always hire outsourced help to get this set up.
You can always put together a word document with what you want on this and forward to your web designer. Search around to see what successful marketers are doing in your niche and “swipe” (not copy!) some of their ideas.
Note: You will also need to set up an autoresponder to capture their email addresses. I suggest AWeber or Mail Chimp as they both work well for this type of response marketing.
2. Send traffic to your landing page
Once your squeeze page is set up and your autoresponder is integrated with the page, your only goal now is to drive traffic to the page. I cannot keep this simple enough. Many marketers try to overcomplicate this at the beginning.
I recommend picking one traffic method and mastering it. So if you want to try pay-per-click or solo ads for example, stick with it until you see results.
3. Follow up with your autoresponder
The last step is to follow up regularly with your autoresponder emails. You do not need to sell every time, but the goal is to get your list to trust you as an advisor. Then make suggestions to solve their problems. Be diligent and trustworthy and you will start seeing sales.
Too Simple?
If these 3 tips seem too simple, that is good because most beginner affiliate marketers training programs try to confuse you so that you will purchase more products from them.
Again, learn from my mistakes. I used to over-complicate this, but when I started over and simplified, I started to see results. And you can too!
