And if the library doesn’t have what you’re looking for, they can usually get it from another library through interlibrary loan.
2. Libraries are free (or very inexpensive).
Unless you have cable or satellite TV, chances are you will have to pay for each movie or show that you watch on television. Even if you do have one of those services, there is still a cost associated with it. Libraries, on the other hand, are free (or very inexpensive) to use. You can check out books, DVDs, and CDs without having to pay anything. And if you want to use one of the library’s online databases, all you need is a library card (which is also free).
3. Libraries provide an environment conducive to learning.
Libraries are generally quiet places where people can go to focus on their studies or reading. They offer chairs, tables, and other comfortable places to sit and read or work on projects. Television, on the other hand, is often loud and disruptive – not exactly the best environment for concentration and learning.
4. Libraries offer educational and informative programs.
In addition to the resources available at libraries, many of them also offer educational and informative programs such as story times, book clubs, author talks, and computer classes. These programs can be beneficial for both children and adults alike. Television programming is generally entertainment-focused with little educational value.
